2000年代に海外フォーラムで話題になったバッファーなしのTS「Son of Screamer 」系と呼ばれるペダル回路は、新たなTS系のジャンルとして数々の名機をシーンに誕生させました。 当時一世を風靡し今でもブティックペダルの代表格と謳われるブランドのフラッグシップモデルや、本機の名前の基にもなったアメリカのハンドメイドペダルブランドの1台等 数多のペダルがギタリストの足元を飾ってきました。 Pedal diggers Perfect 5thは、このバッファーなしのTS「Son of Screamer 」の回路をアレンジ・再構築してファットでウォームなサウンドに仕上げたペダルです。 音の太さ、明瞭感、抜けの良さを併せ持ちカバー範囲も広いため、ロックはもちろんのことジャジーなプレイにも違和感なくマッチさせることができます。 オーバードライブとして使用すればファットでウォーム、倍音豊かなドライブサウンドを得られますが、Gainを低めに設定してToneと組み合わせればカリっとしたクランチサウンドを作り出します。 また、VolとToneをMAXに設定してGainをミニマムまで絞ればトレブルブースターのような“グラッシー”なブーストサウンドが得られます。
