The Dome, Club [UNVRS] Ibiza

Design, engineering, fabrication and installation of an outdoor bar and monumental sculpture beneath the Cúpula of UNVRS, Ibiza.

For this project, IN-OFF took on the full design, engineering, fabrication and installation of the outdoor bar area situated beneath the iconic Cúpula of UNVRS. The brief was clear: preserve the existing dome structure while completely reimagining it to align with the club’s aesthetic identity.

A second structure was designed, engineered and fabricated just below the dome, following its exact shape. This addition served a dual purpose: housing the lighting installation and providing a surface on which plants could grow directly, creating a living, breathing architectural element. The result is a giant garden canopy, a jungle aesthetic that fits naturally with both the Ibiza outdoor club culture and the brutalist character of the building. A key design reference for this space was the work of H.R. Giger, whose influence is visible in the vertebra-shaped elements fabricated for the structure, merging the organic world of plants with the mechanical world of metal, a direct parallel to Giger’s own practice on the border between the organic and the industrial. This homage also made narrative sense for a club whose logo is a UFO.
The lighting design was carefully integrated into the structure, conceived to work in dialogue with the plants, the metal framework and the overall atmosphere of the space.

At the center of the Cúpula stands the Tree of Life, a monumental sculpture conceived as the symbolic and visual heart of the space. Produced by IN-OFF through a combination of 3D design and handcrafted fabrication, the piece presents itself as an ancient, organic mass emerging from the concrete, embodying the meeting of cultures and aesthetics that define the club, while connecting to Giger’s universe through the same merging of organic and mechanical worlds. The bar structure itself draws its design influence from the architecture of a boat hull and human ribs, two forms that share a striking structural similarity, and was fully engineered and fabricated by IN-OFF in steel, integrating seamlessly into the overall visual language of the space.
